The first Belarusian-Chinese tourism forum started in Brest

The Belarusian-Chinese tourism forum “Partnership and travel without borders” has started in Brest. More than 150 participants from Belarus and China gathered to discuss what a new stage of cooperation between the two countries could become, not only in trade and business, but also in the field of travel.

The focus is on Chinese tourists and their expectations. Participants of the forum talk about the creation of joint routes, promotion of Belarusian attractions in China, development of logistics and adaptation of tourist infrastructure. It is important that the trip to Belarus was clear, convenient and memorable for guests – from obtaining information to visiting iconic places.

Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Mikhail Batsenko noted that economic ties between Belarus and China are steadily strengthening, and now it is time to expand them through tourism.

- In general, the trade turnover between Belarus and China is growing every year. Over the past five years, it has increased more than five times, and this year we also see positive dynamics. Now is the time to open the next page of our cooperation – to develop tourism. Chinese tourists today are one of the most numerous groups of travelers in the world, so this destination has great potential, said Mikhail Batsenko.

For the Brest region, the forum became an opportunity to present its tourism potential to Chinese partners. Brest Fortress, Belovezhskaya Forest, the palace complex in Kossovo and other attractions are well known to Belarusian tourists. Now the region intends to open them to guests from China, making Brest region more recognizable destination on the tourist map of China.

At the same time, it is not only about promoting ready-made routes. The forum participants intend to discuss how to receive guests from China, taking into account their cultural characteristics, language needs and habits.

- We must determine how to make Chinese tourists, visiting Brest and the Brest region, feel good, that they were comfortable and that they returned and invited their colleagues and friends to visit the Brest region, said Mikhail Batsenko.

Practical experience in this direction is already being formed. Belarusian-Chinese travel companies work with travelers, businessmen, students and families who come to Belarus from China. According to industry representatives, one of the main issues is the difference in mentality and approaches to the organization of services. However, the joint work of Belarusian and Chinese specialists helps to find solutions and create a more accurate tourist product.

Chinese partners also demonstrate their interest in cooperation. A delegation of the Urumqi Chamber of Foreign Trade – 11 specialists in the field of culture, tourism and technology – arrived in Brest. For them, the forum became an opportunity to get acquainted with the region and discuss the prospects for direct interaction.

After the business program, Chinese participants will be presented sights of Brest region. The organizers expect that the forum will become the starting point for new agreements, routes and projects, and the acquaintance of guests with the region will continue outside the conference platform - in museums, protected areas and historical cities of the Brest region.
