Brest hosted a significant and truly warm ceremony of awarding the Order of the Mother - one of the most honorable state awards, which celebrates women for raising children, contributing to the strengthening of family values and preserving the traditions of care and maternal love.

- Brest is home to more than 5,000 large families, 589 women awarded the Order of the Mother – those who bring up five or more children. For the state and society, the values that have remained unchanged for centuries are very important: love, tenderness, maternal care. We are proud to be able to thank these families for their enormous and sometimes invisible contributions to society. Demographic security is now on par with food and other key areas, and it is these families that form the basis of our sovereignty. On the holiday, I wish all women health and warmth. This year is the year of the woman, and it is especially important that no one is shy about saying the word “love”.

The festive atmosphere reminded of the main thing: the daily care, patience and love that make motherhood so meaningful. And it is best told by mothers themselves - each with its own history and experience.

Nadezhda Leskovic says that a large family for her is primarily movement, help and joy: children are always there, support, and the house is not boring.

- Of course, there are different things – sleepless nights, and moments when you get tired or hurt, but then you look at this happiness and there is a smile. The youngest is Alexandra, two and a half years old. The older ones are 15, 11, 9 and 4, we have four girls and a boy. I myself come from a large family and always wanted three children, but I did not think that there would be five, although I do not regret it a bit, I am sincerely glad. Our children are active: the eldest herself learned to play the guitar and sings, the youngest sings and plays the violin, another dances, the rest also grow enthusiastic. And, of course, in order to develop and support all this, the family needs support, and this is where government support, such as annual school aid, family capital, helps a lot. We took the apartment on credit — the state subsidized 20 square meters. m, the remaining 40 — on credit, and this is a great help, said Nadezhda.

By profession, she is a medical assistant and admits that knowledge in the field of medicine helps:

Medical knowledge helps me take care of my children. Over time, you realize that you don’t always need serious measures – often simple, gentle ways are enough. I really trust chamomile tea, cloves with a sore throat: such remedies really help.

Among the awardees is Olga Demchuk. She said that a large family was a natural and joyful choice for her:

- We have five children - four girls, 13, 11, 8 and 4 years old, and a long-awaited boy, he is now a year and a half. It’s great to have such a big family. Each child has his own character, his own age, his own approach, and we try to pay enough attention to everyone. The state also helps: benefits in connection with the birth and upbringing of children are tangible support, as well as preferential loans for housing and other programs. I would say one thing to young families: don’t be afraid to have children. Children are happiness.
