In Buryatia 71-year-old driver with epilepsy deprived of rights through court

The Prosecutor’s office of Zaigraevsky district of Buryatia during the inspection of compliance with the legislation in the field of road safety found out that the 71-year-old local resident is registered in a medical institution with a diagnosis of epilepsy. And this, in accordance with the requirements of the law, excludes his right to drive vehicles.

Given that driving a car by such a driver creates a real threat to the life and health of road users, the district prosecutor appealed to the court with a claim to terminate the right to drive a vehicle, the press service of the Buryatia Prosecutor’s Office reported.

It is noted that in court the man objected to the requirements of the Prosecutor, citing the fact that seizures are rare. Nevertheless, the court satisfied the claims in full.

The prosecutor’s office stressed that after the entry of the court decision into legal force, its actual execution will be monitored.
