In the Regional Psychoneurological Hospital No. 1 there was a space where the psyche is treated with technology. The Cabinet of Mental Health was created on the initiative of Governor Alexei Texler with the participation of the regional Ministry of Health – now assistance to patients with post-traumatic stress disorder, neurosis, anxiety, insomnia and depression has reached a new level, the press service of the medical institution reports.
In the arsenal of specialists - VR-technologies, biological feedback, light-sound stimulation and programs for resource recovery. As explained by medical psychologist Elena Arkhipova, sounds resembling white noise help to “let go” obsessive thoughts, and the soft flickering of light bulbs reduces anxiety and improves sleep. The parameters are selected individually - so much so that some patients fall asleep already in the seventh minute, although the session lasts 15-20 minutes.
VR programs complement therapy: restore breathing, help move, dance and relieve tension. The patient Anna Lezhanina, who turned after a severe stress at work, describes it this way: “When you walk in, it’s like you’re in another world.” You leave all your problems, all your neuroses at the door.”.
But technology is a helper. Senior psychologist of the hospital Sergey Kozulin emphasizes: “No one takes away the psychologist’s pen, notebook, speech.” The main thing is to work with a specialist. The referral to the office is given by a psychiatrist - he assesses whether this format is suitable for the patient.
