Mom doesn't drink and kids are taken away - what's the reason? The story that thundered throughout Belarus

Even in the geopolitical arena today, the old agreements are being torn apart, but within one family it is much easier to break firewood. Only chips will fly so that you will not collect. In Kamenetsky district, a woman was again deprived of her parental rights. Twelve years ago, four children were taken from the same mother. After the court verdict, three more were born. And the result is the same. And how to decide for whom this is really a life sentence? Is it possible to “wash off” the stigma of a careless parent?

A terrible accident near Kamenets in the Brest region. In the car in which the spouses were traveling, an oncoming passenger flew. The couple died on the spot. Two young children were left without parents. Brother and sister on the same day learned that mom and dad are no longer, and they now have to live in a shelter. Such fates are rare for shelters. Mostly children whose parents are alive get into children's social centers. As a rule, children are withdrawn from parents with severe addictions. But history is not about the obvious.

In the agro-town of Khodosy in the Brest region, local news thundered across the country. A woman who does not drink alcohol has been stripped of her mother’s status. Three children aged eleven, eight and five. The family began to notice something wrong at school.

Natalia Kozlyuk, Director of Khodosov Basic School of Kamenetsky District (2010-2026): The children are kind, the children are beautiful, there have never been any problems in discipline with the children, well, the only one, except for skipping school classes, because the older girl Olya missed a lot. She didn't want to go to school.

According to the teachers, as soon as they noticed that the eldest was not in school, they went to the girl’s home. Visitors were often not opened. Mom left for work early in the morning.

Elena Mantsevich, Director of Khodosov Basic School of Kamenetsky District: I remember that scene, it was winter. It was cold. They were sitting there, they didn't have that kind of heating. And when I asked what you were feeding the kids, there was just soup. And bone. I mean, I was, you know, I'm telling you, I got goosebumps. It hurt to tears.

There was no woman in the apartment. There's nothing scary outside, though. The rooms have plastic windows. The neighbor on the top said: something particularly outrageous did not notice.

We tracked down my mother in a nearby village. 42-year-old Julia works in the local farm handyman. This is the parent's house. Talking openly on camera is embarrassing. She said that Olya loved to study, but she was simply afraid to go to school.

In the social center where the children now live, we managed to communicate with Olga. The girl is very worried and misses her mother.

For more than six months, children go to a new school in the village, where the social center is located. They are closely watched by adults.

Yana Drobysh, Deputy Prosecutor of the Kamenetsky District: We checked, no bullying was installed. In any case, even the girl now explains that at school she has friendly relationships with classmates, the child’s performance in school has grown.

The claim to my mother was far from just for absenteeism. The reason for the court’s decision was the poor care of the children, who were taken from the woman four times. She was given a chance, she corrected the situation, but not for long. And now the mother of many children once again did not justify the trust. The prosecutor's office intervened.

Yana Drobysh, Deputy Prosecutor of the Kamenetsky District: No one requires a parent to solve all their problems in one second, enough time is given, all violations are remediable. The family was in a socially dangerous position for a long time, it was under control, periodically visited by subjects of prevention. It was found that there was no food, that children were left for a long time without proper supervision. Children are allowed to skip school, medical recommendations are not followed, that is, those doctors who were recommended to visit in the environment of health are not visited.

Julia herself admits that there was not enough money and hands. I already regretted that I bought something, but an apartment in a prestigious agro-town.

The woman hopes to get her children back. Shows things, shoes, toys. She says she is ready to move to her parents’ home. But officials are sure that the woman will not be able to provide children with proper care and upbringing. Remember that mom always has a chance to prove otherwise.

Irina Vasyukevich, Director of the Kamenetsky District Social and Pedagogical Center: Within 5 months, we unfortunately had several deprivations of parental rights. Back in the same family. Dad crashed there.

The family is still in the same Kamenets district. The girl proudly boasts of home comfort. Comfortable at home and outside. The apartment was allocated by the farm. I don't want to live. But until recently, they did not want to live normally. It's hard to believe, but the couple's social workers had to take their children to an orphanage. Let's face it, my parents went out.

For almost six months, the parents tried to earn their trust. Got it. By the way, the non-drinking Julia, who was deprived of the status of a mother, in fact, there were seven children. She legally lost four of them 12 years ago. Relatives took care of the elders. It worked!

Natalia Koltunchik, Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Minors Affairs of the Kamenetsky District Executive Committee: A girl, one of these children, is now graduating from medical college. The second graduated from university, works as a teacher. The girls are beautiful, but they do not want to communicate with their mother.

Experts are sure: leave children careless parents - there is a great chance to deprive the child of at least a calm and stable future. Therefore, the main thing is to identify the problem before the child becomes Mowgli. And it does not matter whether the family lives in the village on the farm or in the capital.

Tatiana Drapeza, Director of the Social and Pedagogical Center of the Partizan District of Minsk: There are children who have never done homework, such as writing poorly, speaking poorly, not always aware of the actions they can do. There are children with speech disorders. We restore everything that our parents did not give.

Children in the capital's shelter imitate playing cards. There is no doubt that they copy their parents. As practice shows, children in antisocial families form a model of relationships and behavior. And it often happens that, growing up, they open the door to social services who have come to seize their own children. So to return to my mother in spite of the circumstances, is it still a native? Or break the cycle and teach the nature of a healthy family? It's like watching.
