In Dzerzhinsk fear of collapse due to repairs "Popovsky bridge"

In Dzerzhinsk, they are preparing for a two-year repair of the Chernyakhovsky overpass, which the locals call the Popov Bridge. For the city, this is a key crossing: it connects the old part of Dzerzhinsk with a large microdistrict and settlements - Coastal, Dacha, Kolodkino, Babino, Yurievets, Igumnov and Petryaevka. Residents fear that the closure of the bridge will lead to a traffic collapse.

The emergency overpass was recognized in 2019, and the prosecutor’s office then issued an order for immediate reconstruction. It is now known that the bridge will be closed for two years.

The authorities have been looking for a solution in recent months. After the closure of the crossing, public transport will change: buses No. 1 and No. 8A will temporarily stop running, No. 8 and No. 28 will go to the overpass through Zhelny Bridge, and routes No. 205 and No. 206 will be shortened. The work of emergency services will also be adjusted: in order for firefighters to arrive in Pushkino, Babushkino and Coastal on time, one unit for this period will be placed at the Cable Factory, and in the Coastal, the ambulance brigade will be permanently on duty.

The mayor of Dzerzhinsk, Mikhail Klinkov, who holds the post until October 30, admitted that blocking the bridge for two years is a serious inconvenience, but it is impossible to postpone repairs: in two years the city will receive a modern and safe transport artery that will last for decades. Detailed detour schemes and a map of changes in the city hall promise to publish three weeks before the start of repairs.
