The general plan of Grodno will be amended. What could change?

Adjustment of the draft general plan of Grodno is included in the state order for 2027, this is fixed in the list of urban development projects approved by the government of Belarus. What changes are expected, told in the Department of construction, architecture and urban planning of the Grodno city Executive Committee, writes BelTA.

According to the head of the department Denis Konon, large-scale work will start next year. Emphasis will be placed on changing functional zoning, renovating inefficiently used areas and smart compaction within the city limits.

The General Development Plan of Grodno was developed in 2018 and has not been amended since then. Life does not stand still, new needs and priorities are formed. In this regard, changes are required primarily in the functional zoning of urban areas. More than 50 places have been identified where certain changes are needed, Denis Conon said.

As an example, he cited the territory near Suvorov Street, where not very well-groomed private buildings have been preserved at the entrance to the city, which can be replaced by modern multi-storey houses. Also, in some already inhabited neighborhoods there were unused plots where some public buildings were planned, but they were not needed: apartment buildings will be located here. Speaking about the transport infrastructure in the regional center, the interlocutor indicated that it is well thought out, changes will affect only the sequence of work.

Denis Konon noted that all changes to the master plan will be made taking into account the opinion of citizens, and plans to hold public discussions.
