The Prosecutor’s Office of Grodno, when considering the appeal of a local resident, found gross violations of labor legislation in the activities of one of the enterprises. After the intervention of the department, the widow of the worker who died in production was paid 80 thousand financial assistance, the information service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Grodno region reported.

The woman twice applied to the organization with applications for financial assistance in connection with the death of her husband. The man died due to an industrial injury, which he received in December 2024. But at the enterprise, the widow was denied payment, citing the fact that at the time of injury, the employee was in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

The prosecutor’s office recognized the specified decision of the employer as violating the rights and legitimate interests of family members of the deceased employee. In particular, the collective agreement in force at the enterprise provides that in case of death of an employee due to an industrial injury, the employer pays his family a one-time financial assistance in the amount of 120 average monthly wages of the deceased. When an employee who died from an industrial injury is found in a state of alcoholic intoxication, payments are not made regardless of the employer’s fault.

During the investigation by the authorized state bodies of an accident at work, the fact of the employee being in a state of alcoholic intoxication was not confirmed.

Since the rights and legitimate interests of a member of the employee’s family were unjustifiably infringed, the prosecutor issued an order to the head of the enterprise, in which he demanded that the appeal of the deceased’s wife be reconsidered.
