On the eve of Father’s Day, which is celebrated on October 18 in 2026, the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia spoke about the support measures available to men raising children. Depending on the family situation and employment, fathers can claim benefits, parental leave and separate pension benefits.
The father has the right to issue leave to care for the child until he reaches the age of one and a half, as well as a sick leave to care for a sick child. If the mother is not working, the father can receive a lump sum allowance at the birth of the child. In addition, one of the parents can apply for a single allowance for children under 17 years old - the decision is made taking into account the needs of the family.
For working parents raising two or more children, an annual family payment is provided. However, in 2026 applications were accepted from June 1 to October 1, so the deadline for filing has already expired.
Additional support is provided for families with disabled children. A non-working father or a man working part-time, subject to the conditions, can receive a monthly payment for care in the amount of 11 563.2 rubles. Working parents are entitled to 48 additional paid days off each year, which they can distribute among themselves.
In certain circumstances, the father, who is the only parent, can also receive maternity capital. Pensioners who are dependent on minor children or full-time students under the age of 23 years are provided with an additional pension payment of 3,194.9 rubles for each child.
In addition, men who have raised a child with a disability before the age of eight can retire at the age of 55 if they meet the legal requirements. The terms of each payment and benefits depend on the specific circumstances of the family.
