In Karelia, an elderly woman twice fell victim to the same fraudsters

A resident of Petrozavodsk at the age of 75 years again lost a large amount of money, trusting telephone scammers. Earlier, the pensioner had already found herself in a similar situation: then she transferred 2.7 million rubles to the attackers. Thanks to the prompt work of the Karelian police, the courier was caught, and the stolen funds were returned to the owner.

It would seem that after detailed explanations of law enforcement officers, the woman had to be vigilant. However, she continued to maintain contact with criminals who posed as representatives of law enforcement agencies. This time the scenario was different: the scammers convinced the pensioner that she was participating in a "special operation" to catch the criminal. The woman was forced to go out with the money and hand it over to the person who was supposedly to be detained on the spot.

After the transfer of funds, the victim was ordered to return home and not to approach the windows. Later, she received a call, "reported" about the successful arrest and was asked if she had seen the work of the special forces. Of course, no detention was carried out. Only two weeks later, realizing that she had been deceived, the Petrozavodsk resident again turned to the police. Now a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of embezzlement on an especially large scale.
