In Karelian banks and a number of retail chains, the autumn stage of the Coin Week campaign started. Its main goal is to return trifles to active circulation and reduce the costs of the state for the production of new coins.
In many areas of the region, financial institutions accept metal cash without any fees, depositing an equivalent amount into a customer’s bank account. In some retail outlets, the accumulated trifle is offered to exchange for paper bills. A full list of participants, their addresses and detailed rules for accepting coins are available on the official website of the event. To make the procedure faster, the organizers advise to distribute the coins in advance at their face value.
According to Vadim Chekan, Head of the National Bank for the Republic of Karelia, Coin Week is held twice a year, teaching citizens to use money rationally. Earlier, in the spring, the activity of the population allowed to return to circulation more than 226 thousand coins with a total face value of more than a million rubles.
The current stage of the action will last in the republic until November 7.
