In Kurchatov, the court recovered 351 thousand from the lyceum for a branch that fell on the car

Kurchatov city court considered the case of damage to the car. The plaintiff sought compensation from lyceum No. 3, on the territory of which the tree grew.

In December 2025, a man parked a car at the house No. 8 on Gaidar Street along the road. In the morning he found a branch on the roof. The tree grew on the campus. The car was damaged.

First, the expert of the plaintiff estimated the damage at 338 700 rubles. Then the court appointed a comprehensive examination at the request of the defendant. It showed that the repair taking into account the loss of commodity value will cost 351 800 rubles.

The defendant did not prove the existence of force majeure or other circumstances that would absolve him of responsibility. The court concluded that the damage was due to improper maintenance of the tree.

The lawsuit was partially satisfied. From the lyceum recovered 351 800 rubles of damage and 65 295 rubles of legal costs. If the institution does not have enough property, money will be collected from the administration of Kurchatov at the expense of the city treasury. The decision has not yet entered into force.
