In the Kursk region sown more than 200 kg of oak acorns
In the future, the oak tree will become an open-air scientific laboratory

Employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kursk Region, together with biologists of KSU, held an environmental campaign “Let’s Grow a Forest Together!” It was organized within the framework of the federal project “Preservation of forests” of the national project “Environmental well-being”, initiated by President Vladimir Putin.
Sowing acorns took place in the Shchigrovsky district. Students and teachers of the Department of Biology and Ecology, as well as employees of the local forestry planted more than 200 kg of cherry oak acorns on an area of 4 hectares.
The head of the Shchigrovsky forestry, Vladimir Terekhov, said that the seed material was harvested in the Shchigrovsky forestry and in the forests of the Moscow region. This will allow later to analyze the growth of plantations in the Kursk region depending on the geographical origin of seeds.
The laid bayrac oak tree will become part of the ecological framework of the region. It will serve as a carbon reservoir and contain the degradation of black earth soils. In the future, the oak tree will become an open-air scientific laboratory.
Employees of the Department of Biology and Ecology, NIL Ecomonitoring, students and graduate students of KSU will continue to monitor the deposit of carbon in soil and wood against the background of climate change. The obtained data will help to develop recommendations for the creation of carbon fiber farms throughout the Central Black Earth.
