Over the past five years, 467 public spaces and 135 courtyards have been put in order in the Leningrad region. In addition, 43 initiatives aimed at improving the urban environment have been implemented. This was reported in the press service of the regional administration.
Vice-Governor of the Leningrad region Yevgeny Baranovsky, speaking at the interregional forum Comfortable Environment: North-West, explained why in 2026 the number of yards participating in the regional improvement program increased by more than 2.5 times, from 25 to 64. He also spoke about the principles on which work is built to create a comfortable urban environment.
“A comfortable urban environment affects the geography of people's lives. That is why the Leningrad region grows square meters of housing, grows new families. People choose our region, associate their future with it, and our task is to justify this choice. Over the past five years, we have transformed hundreds of territories, and people are seeing the results of this work. Confidence is growing: the number of participants in the regional vote for new projects has more than tripled - from 32 to 102 thousand people, and the all-Russian vote - by almost 70%, to 181 thousand, Evgeny Baranovsky explained.
As the vice-governor added, requests often change, so the authorities pay special attention to the courtyards as the beginning of the feeling of hometown. On behalf of the Governor, this year the yard program was increased more than two and a half times for the tangible development of the region in the life of each family and settlement.
