A criminal case has been opened against the 24-year-old previously unconvicted foreigner - she is accused of embezzling property by modifying computer information, the Oktyabrsky district prosecutor's office told the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency.

The defendant found a bank card on the street. Instead of blocking it or trying to return it to the owner, she paid with someone else’s card for travel in the subway and shopping in the store.

It turned out that the card was dropped by a pensioner who, noticing two suspicious transactions totaling 95.25 BYN, applied to the police. The identity of the offender was established without difficulty, a criminal case was opened against her.

- The accused was not previously brought to criminal responsibility, commented Deputy Prosecutor of the Oktyabrsky district Yuri Sovlovets. She was charged with embezzlement of property by modifying computer information, that is, committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code, the sanction of which is up to three years in prison. The citizen fully admitted the guilt.
