In Minsk condemned the car thief who committed theft in a very sophisticated way

The sentence of a 45-year-old previously unconvicted resident of Gomel, who was accused of committing theft and theft of property by modifying computer information, the Minsk prosecutor’s office told the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency.

In February, the defendant came to Minsk to buy a present for his wife. Having managed his business, he decided to take a walk along the street. October - he had time before sending a minibus to his hometown. At one point, he opened his backpack to pick up a thermos, and discovered a remote control keychain (code-grabber) found several years ago that turned out to be working.

Not far from the man parked Volkswagen Passat. A resident of Gomel waited for the driver to leave, and with the help of a key fob opened someone else's car. In the trunk, he found a bag and purse containing $250, 10,000 Russian rubles and 90 BYN, which he had taken for himself.

In October, the defendant again came to the capital on personal business. He was walking down the street at night. October and decided to use the keychain again. He opened a Nissan parked by the roadside and stole $100 and $145 BYN from the cabin.

In December, he had to visit Minsk again. On the same street, he opened a Volkswagen Golf in which he found $70 and $1,200 BYN. The accused later spent the money.

Four months later, being in the capital, he again decided to profit on the street. October. This time, with the help of a remote control fob, a man broke into the cabin of a parked Ford Galaxy and stole $ 304 and 210 BYN, as well as two cards and a piece of pin codes. After the ATM in several stages, he withdrew from them a total of 2,180 BYN.

The same evening, a guest of the capital was detained, a criminal case was opened against him. He fully admitted guilt in the incriminated crimes, repented of what he had done, saying that he had committed crimes because he was in a difficult financial situation. The victim was voluntarily compensated.

- The accused has a higher education, he works as a driver in a private company, previously he was not brought to criminal responsibility, said Dmitry Khovavko, senior prosecutor at special orders of the Minsk Prosecutor’s Office for Supervision of Compliance with Law of Judgments in Criminal Cases. The court found him guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code (“Theft)” and Part 2 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code (“Theft of property by modifying computer information”), and imposed a final punishment in the form of restriction of freedom with referral to an open-type correctional institution for a period of two years, without deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities.

In accordance with Part 1 of Art. 46-1 of the Criminal Code, the robber code of the accused was confiscated.

The sentence has entered into force.
