In Minsk will open a monument to the famous wrestler Alexander Medved

The grand opening of the monument to three-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Alexander Medved will take place at the capital's Eastern cemetery on September 16, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The opening ceremony of the monument will begin at 12:00 and will be timed to the birthday of the legendary athlete. The heads of the Ministry of Sport of Belarus, representatives of the National Olympic Committee, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian Wrestling Federation and other sports associations, titled athletes, pupils and relatives of A. Medved will gather to pay tribute.

Recall: from the life of A. Bear died on September 2, 2024 at the age of 86 years (two weeks did not live to 87 years). In Minsk 14 years ago, the city center of the Olympic reserve for wrestling named after three-time Olympic champion A.V. Medved opened, and an international tournament in his memory is held annually.
