In the capital detained a 36-year-old man suspected of extortion on an especially large scale, reports the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti” with reference to the interior Ministry.

The defendant previously worked at one of the enterprises for the production of cosmetic products. For two years he collected information about the financial and economic activities of the company. After dismissal at his own request, the attacker went to work for competitors and decided to use the accumulated information for personal enrichment.

Last month, the man began blackmailing the 35-year-old head of the organization. Threatening to release the data, he demanded 1 million BYN.

During the next meeting with the victim of Minsk detained the operatives of the 2nd management GUBOPiK with the force support of the fighters of SPBT "Diamond".

A criminal case has been initiated for extortion in order to obtain property benefits on an especially large scale. A resident of the capital faces up to 15 years in prison. In addition, the involvement of the defendant in the commission of other crimes is checked.
