In Mongolia introduced fines for bear fakes

Distribution in Mongolia created with the help of artificial intelligence messages about the exit of bears to people will be punished by fines of 300 thousand tugrik (about $85) for individuals and 3 million (more than $840) for legal entities. This is reported by TASS with reference to the state commission for emergency situations.

In the capital of Mongolia, 28 complaints were registered about the penetration of bears into residential areas, but four of them were unreliable. Some of these reports used artificially generated illustrations of these predators.

As experts deploy rapid response teams to every report of a bear threat to humans, we caution citizens against spreading such false information. The Emergencies Commission appealed to citizens with a warning: individuals face a fine of 300 thousand tugriks, and legal entities – 3 million. In case of danger, according to the Agency, involved police and military, endowed with the right to use small arms.

By mid-October 2026, the number of recorded cases of bears encountering people near settlements across the country reached 1,006. In 80% of these incidents, bears with offspring were observed. However, in recent days there has been an increase in the number of cases when adult males approached people. In more than 40 cases, attacks on livestock and dogs were reported, as well as damage to fences, residential buildings and cars.

Interesting initiative, isn't it?
