In the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill, a solemn ceremony of awarding the authors of the eighth collection “Heroes are not born.” To the Motherland! The next book of the series includes 140 stories about the participants of a special military operation, selected by the jury, which consists of Heroes of Russia. This was reported by the organizers of the event.

“The importance of a truly unique book series cannot be overstated. It talks about those who bring victory closer in a special military operation and are an example of real courage, said Alexander Gorbenko, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Regional Security and Information Policy.

According to him, the eighth collection includes stories about a platoon of operators of drones “Heavenly Devils”, destroying important infrastructure of the enemy, and about the Russian Guardsman from Moscow with the call sign “Student”, who together with his colleagues saved more than 80 civilians from the house, which was struck by the enemy.

Among the heroes of the publication are the “landing father” Mikhail Vasiliev, a Hero of Russia from the Leningrad region, who visited all hot spots; a military nurse with the call sign Molecule and her son with the call sign Pushkin from St. Petersburg, continuing the work of his grandmother and great-grandmother – front-line nurse Maria Rudko; Hero of Russia Nursultan Mussagaleev from the Orenburg region, whose company of scouts without a single loss destroyed 19 pieces of enemy equipment in battle.

As noted in the organizing committee of the competition, the stories of heroes are written by the whole country - from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. The head of the department of national policy and interregional relations of the capital Vitaly Suchkov said that the youngest authors are only four years old: preschoolers Dasha and Zhenya from the Irkutsk region, together with their mothers, wrote about their fathers who left as volunteers for the SVO.

The collection includes the stories of residents of Moscow, Kaliningrad, Belgorod, Tula, Omsk, Ivanovo, Irkutsk, Volgograd, Leningrad, Kirov, Tyumen, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk regions, Primorsky, Khabarovsk, Perm, Krasnodar, Trans-Baikal Territory, Altai, Crimea, North Ossetia - Alania, Tatarstan, Buryatia, Adygea, Mari El, Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamal-Nenets districts.

Within the framework of the ceremony, a presentation of new videos with Heroes of Russia from the series “Heroes are not born”, which will replenish the video encyclopedia “Heroes of Russia”, and the exhibition “Heroes of Our Days” was held at the Victory Museum.

Over the past four years, we have published seven collections of stories about the exploits of our contemporaries, heroes of a special military operation. This is more than 1,200 stories. Collections have become truly popular, – said the head of the organizing Committee of the competition Emma Christmas.

The eighth collection was presented to the authors by Heroes of Russia – participants of the SVO; the publications were also transferred to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Defense Museum and the Victory Museum.

Earlier, on September 26 and 27, the Moscow Marathon was held in the capital, with over 45,000 participants. Athletes covered distances of 10 and 42.2 kilometers, and separate competitions were organized for the youngest athletes. In 2026, the participants prepared an updated route from Kosygin Street to Luzhniki, running along the embankments of the Moscow River, the Garden and Boulevard Ring, Tverskaya Street and along the walls of the Kremlin.

Also on October 3 and 4, a half marathon “My Capital” was held at the University Square with the participation of more than 17,000 people.
