The interior Ministry warned of a new scheme of fraudsters with “assistance in obtaining loans”

Criminals gain full control over users’ gadgets with the help of malicious software masquerading as banking services, such a program is downloaded automatically after clicking on a link promising approval of a loan even to persons with damaged credit history. This is stated in the official materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Law enforcers specify that the attackers actively publish online advertisements with the promise of assistance in obtaining a loan for citizens with damaged credit history. When you click on the specified link to the user’s smartphone in the background, a fake application begins to load. Then instructions appear on the screen that require a person to enter bank card details and fill out a detailed questionnaire.

This software, embedded in the device of the victim, provides scammers with the ability to remotely control the phone. In addition, the collected personal data allows fraudsters to independently execute new debt obligations in the name of the victim.

The department strongly recommends that citizens under no circumstances follow the instructions received from strangers.
