In MHKH told how to legally increase the bathroom due to the redevelopment of the corridor

Some apartment owners are thinking about redevelopment to increase the area of the bathroom at the expense of part of the corridor. The Ministry of Housing and Communal Services explained whether it is legal and what needs to be done before the start of work.

The department informed:

- In accordance with the Regulations on the conditions and procedure for reorganization and (or) redevelopment, changing the area of living rooms and utility rooms in the apartment by dismantling existing and (or) the device of new partitions refers to redevelopment works. Therefore, it is possible to increase the area of the bathroom at the expense of part of the corridor subject to obtaining approval (permission) of the local executive and administrative body before the start of work.

At the same time, redevelopment should not violate construction, fire protection, sanitary-epidemiological and other established requirements, as well as worsen the operation of engineering systems at home.

As noted in the Ministry, unauthorized to perform such work is prohibited. If the redevelopment has already been made without approval, it must be legalized in the prescribed manner.
