NAO provides support measures for residents with visual impairments
October 15 – International White Cane Day

October 15 is International White Cane Day. It helps people with visual impairments to move independently. The task of society is to ensure that the usual business does not require them to constantly overcome obstacles.
Before you take a blind person by the arm, it is worth asking if he needs help. If so, he will tell you how comfortable it is. This simple rule is worth knowing for everyone.
To get to the reception, get to work, use transport, you need free passages, clear announcements, available information. And also employees who are able to communicate with a blind visitor and turn directly to him, even if there is an accompanying person nearby.
In the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, residents with disabilities are provided with free travel in public transport, and for people with group I - and for an accompanying person. It is also possible to obtain compensation for self-acquired technical means of rehabilitation that are not included in the federal list.
There is also financial support. Residents with disabilities whose individual income does not exceed three subsistence minimums are provided with a monthly compensation payment. By the International Day of Disabled Persons, 10 thousand rubles are paid to adults with disabilities who have lived in the district for at least 15 years, as well as disabled children.
For assistance in social rehabilitation, you can contact the Comprehensive Center for Social Services of the NAO.
The Governor of the NAO Irina Gekht appealed to residents with visual impairments with a request to share what causes them the most difficulties in everyday life. You can write in comments or in private messages. This experience will help you better understand what needs to be corrected.
