In the Nizhny Novgorod region want to simplify the hunt for bears
The government of the Nizhny Novgorod region has prepared amendments to the legislation on hunting, which will simplify the production of brown bears

The government of the Nizhny Novgorod region has prepared amendments to the legislation on hunting, which will simplify the production of brown bears. The initiative is planned to be sent to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, said the Minister of Forestry Roman Vorobyov.
The bear will be proposed to exclude from the list of hunting resources, the extraction of which is allowed by limits: they want to allow hunting it by analogy with a boar, wolf and fox. It is also proposed to cancel the fee and the state duty for a permit for the production of bears in public lands when regulating the number, to cancel the 30-day period of validity of the permit, to change the standards of withdrawal (percentage of the population) and hunting terms. In addition, the Minister considers it necessary to introduce administrative responsibility for refusing to hunt bears in the lands where the population allows hunting.
According to the ministry, over the past ten years, the bear population in the region has grown 1.7 times to 1,553 individuals. The production limit in 2026-2027 is estimated at a quarter of the population. Bears are increasingly noticed in settlements, apiaries and garden areas, especially in the northern districts, where the number is highest. At the same time, hunters do not fully master quotas due to low interest in mining and inflated prices in hunting farms. Over the past ten years, bear attacks on people in the region have not been recorded, Vorobyov summed up.
