In the Sergiev-Posad Museum-Reserve, a large-scale exhibition “The Image of the Russian Bishop” began. The project is dedicated to the white bishop’s klobuk – a significant element of the Russian church tradition, which combines the history, symbolism and artistic language of church vestments, the press service of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve reported.
The exhibition is timed to the 80th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. It was the final stage of a large inter-museum project: the first site was Veliky Novgorod, then the exposition was shown in Rostov the Great. Especially symbolic is the opening of the exhibition in the days of memory of St. Sergius of Radonezh, one of the greatest saints of the Russian land.
For four and a half months in Veliky Novgorod and Rostov the Great exhibition was visited by more than 30 thousand people. Now it can be seen by guests of Sergiev Posad, the city that became the final point of the route that united three federal museums.
