In the agro-town Pleschitsa Pinsky district today, November 6, opened a memorial sign dedicated to children who died from the atrocities of the German fascist invaders and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War, reports the correspondent of sb. by

The commemorative ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Brilevich, Chairman of the Brest Regional Council of Deputies Marina Kovalevskaya, the leadership of the Pinsk district, representatives of public organizations of the Pinsk region, as well as teachers and students.

The idea of installing a memorial sign and perpetuating the memory of the dead children belongs to the Pinsk inter-district prosecutor's office. According to Pinsky interdistrict prosecutor Dmitry Poznyak, this step was prompted by the terrible episodes of the deaths of children at the hands of occupiers and collaborators during the war:
- During the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, the prosecutor’s office revealed numerous facts in which children suffered. And these facts were so blatant, so terrible that they simply could not be kept silent. Therefore, the idea arose that a memorable place was needed in the Pinsk region, after coming to which a person could see that not only soldiers, but also innocent children suffered at that terrible time. So that people think about it, think about the peaceful sky above our heads and remember everyone who died in the war.

The initiator of the installation of the monument directly in Pleschitsy was the director of the local secondary school Alexandra Ivantsova, whose proposed project won an open competition of civic initiatives.
Assessing the importance of the appearance of such a memorial on the territory of the agro-town, Alexandra Ivantsova noted:
- We have a fairly large agro-town, it is growing, our school is increasing in number. And we are faced with the task of raising the younger generation as real patriots, worthy citizens of their country. And we decided that the monument to children who died during the war, will allow the current younger generation in this personal formation. This monument reminds them, as well as all people, that every lost life of a child is an unspoken song, an unread book, an unbuilt house. Their tragedy is another vivid reminder of the price Belarusians paid for today’s peaceful sky above their heads. By opening such memorial signs, we preserve the historical truth and strengthen the independence of our state.

Separately, it is worth noting that it was possible to implement the plan during this year at the expense of the Brest Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies, which allocated the main part of the necessary 160 thousand rubles to support this civic initiative. In addition, significant support in the creation of the monument was also provided by the Pinsky District Executive Committee and the district Council of Deputies, as well as a number of organizations of the district.
Commenting on this fact in communication with the media after the ceremony, Igor Brilevich stressed that the state will continue to support the initiatives of citizens to preserve the historical memory of the people:
- In recent years, places of remembrance, places of power, places of worship, where people come, where children come to pay tribute to those people who died during the Great Patriotic War, who gave their lives for the sake of our lives. This is not just a tribute to the past. This is the foundation of our present and future. After all, the more such places will appear on our land, the more we keep this memory, the less likely that these terrible events will be repeated in our history.
