Quarantine on brown-marble bug introduced in five districts of Dagestan

Quarantine on brown-marble bug introduced in five districts of Dagestan. This insect damages fruit, nut and vegetable crops, as well as grapes. This was announced at a meeting with acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Albert Khasauov.
Quarantine operates in Magaramkent, Derbent, Suleyman-Stal, Tabasaran and Khiva districts. The total area of quarantine phytosanitary zones exceeds 318 thousand hectares. According to the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Department for Dagestan Shakhrudin Gunashev, instructions on combat measures and warnings were sent to municipalities, and the service was transferred to round-the-clock mode.
On October 8 and 9, field activities were held in the Magaramkent district: pheromone traps were installed in a number of farms and explanatory work was carried out with the population. In the Magaramkent district, 160 liters of the drug were purchased for the treatment of territories, in Akhtyn also revealed a pest.
Khasauov stressed that targeted measures of individual farms are ineffective – an organized approach and concerted actions of administrations, land users and forestry are needed. Among the methods of control, he called the expansion of chemical treatment and the territory with pheromone traps, as well as strict monitoring. Following the meeting, it was instructed to quickly monitor the situation and localize the foci in order to prevent the spread of the pest.
