In Russia, the start of sales of cars with high mileage in taxi parks

In the Russian market of used cars increased the number of offers from taxis. Carriers put up for sale cars, the further maintenance of which becomes economically unprofitable. In addition, the transport is sold through bidding leasing companies that received it back from customers who were unable to fulfill financial obligations. This was reported by the National Association of Taxi Parks (NAT).

The operation of the car directly affects the financial results of the carrier. While the car regularly goes on routes, it provides revenue. With frequent breakdowns, the situation changes: transport is idle, the cost of its maintenance remains, and the income from transportation is reduced.

In such conditions, owners have to assess the feasibility of further repairs. If the cost of maintaining a car becomes too high, it can be sold and replaced with another car. As noted in the NAT, the median service life of the car in the Russian taxi is about five years. This figure does not mean that all cars after such a period must be decommissioned.

The market also receives cars withdrawn from leasing schemes. This mechanism allows taxi fleets to use cars without a one-time payment of the full cost, but requires regular payments. Liabilities remain in periods of declining revenue or rising service costs. If the carrier does not cope with the payments, the transport can be returned to the leasing company under the terms of the contract and in accordance with the law.

Financial difficulties are especially noticeable for small companies, as the loss of even one car can significantly affect their work. Additional repair costs and delays in leasing payments may force owners to reduce the number of cars. In some cases, such problems lead to business closure.

The appearance of more cars, previously used in taxis, gives buyers additional options, but does not necessarily lead to cheaper used transport. The price is determined by the technical condition of the machine, the region of sale and the terms of the transaction. Before buying, it is important to check the mileage and service history, as well as consider how intensively the car was operated. Cars from taxi fleets could work several shifts a day and be used by different drivers, which should be taken into account when assessing their condition.
