In RKB named after Semashko conducted a minimally invasive operation for complication of an ulcer

Doctors of the Republican clinical hospital named after N. A. Semashko operated on a patient with severe narrowing of the duodenum. Due to scarring, food could not normally pass from the stomach to the intestines. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of health of the Crimea.
The operation was performed laparoscopically - through several small punctures, without a large incision. Surgeons performed an intervention that reduces stomach acid production and eliminated the narrowing by restoring the passage of food.
The chief freelance surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Crimea, head of the department of surgery of the hospital Samir Zakut explained that most cases of peptic ulcer are now treated with medications, so planned operations are needed less often.
However, severe complications - for example, critical narrowing, perforation of the wall or internal bleeding - require the help of surgeons.
“In such cases, conservative methods are ineffective, and the only way to save the patient’s life is surgery,” Zakut said.
During the operation, doctors crossed only those branches of the vagus nerve that affect excess acid production, preserving the work of the nerves responsible for other organs of the abdominal cavity.
According to the Ministry of Health, the laparoscopic approach helps to injure tissues less, reduces the risk of complications and contributes to a faster recovery of the patient.
