In Russia, proposed to issue pets policies MHI
Owners of cats and dogs in the Ulyanovsk region in the future may be able to treat pets under the system of compulsory medical insurance

Owners of cats and dogs in the Ulyanovsk region in the future may be able to treat pets under the system of compulsory medical insurance. The initiative to extend the CHI mechanism to domestic animals was made in the Public Chamber of Russia. However, the proposal is still under discussion.
The authors of the initiative believe that the introduction of veterinary insurance by analogy with compulsory medical insurance will reduce the financial burden on animal owners. Today, the costs of examinations, operations and treatment of pet owners, as a rule, pay independently.
The new system will make veterinary services more accessible. In addition, the insurance mechanism can help to strengthen control over the cost and quality of care provided by specialized clinics.
Special attention should be paid to expensive medical interventions. For complex operations, special quotas may be provided to cover part of the cost of animal treatment.
The initiative does not only affect pets. The Public Chamber also proposed to consider the possibility of organizing surveys for homeless animals.
At the same time, it is premature to talk about the imminent appearance of veterinary policies. To launch such a system, it will be necessary to develop a funding mechanism and amend existing legislation.
Thus, it is only a proposal, not a decision. The timing of the possible introduction of compulsory health insurance for animals, the conditions for obtaining policies and the list of paid services have not yet been determined.
