In Russia detained courier fraudsters with 1.7 kg of gold

In the Kamchatka Territory, a resident of the Moscow region was arrested, who is suspected of participating in a fraudulent scheme with theft of gold bars from a local entrepreneur. The woman received from the man five bars worth more than 20 million rubles. This was reported in the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the investigation, in October, unknown persons contacted the 66-year-old businessman through a messenger and introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. Under the pretext of helping to detain a criminal group, they persuaded the man to transfer his savings into gold.

The entrepreneur turned to the bank, where employees suspected fraud and reported what was happening to law enforcement officers. After that, the further actions of the man took place under the control of operatives.

During a personal meeting, the businessman gave the woman five gold bars with a total weight of 1.7 kg. The courier was detained directly during the transfer of valuables.

In fact, a criminal case of fraud was opened. The suspect was detained, specified in the Prosecutor’s office of the Kamchatka Territory.
