In the Rostov region destroyed almost 800 hectares of forest plantations

In the Rostov region, 796.7 hectares of forest plantations died in 2025. These figures are the highest among the regions of the Southern Federal District. Data leads Donday.ru with reference to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.

The biggest problem for forest plantations in the region was fires. Only for this reason burned 600.2 hectares. Another 62.3 hectares died due to insect damage, 120.9 hectares due to weather conditions. Other reasons accounted for 12.9 hectares.

The top five is also closed: Volgograd region (389.7 hectares), Astrakhan — 203 hectares, in Kalmykia — 82 hectares, in Crimea — 67.4 hectares.

The main pest was ash gold. According to the government of the Rostov region, in 2025, the pest infected about 40% of the region and destroyed 20% of ash. Another reason is the climatic conditions. The drought caused great damage to vegetation. Spring frosts in May 2025 damaged 240 thousand hectares of crops in the Rostov region, more than 100 thousand hectares of them died.
