The book “Rybinsk Memorial” was published, which contains information about more than 150 memorable objects of the city. The publication includes information about memorial plaques, obelisks and monuments that have become part of the urban environment.
The material is divided into five thematic sections. One of them is dedicated to monuments associated with the Great Patriotic War. The chapter “Valor and Glory” tells about memorial signs in honor of the defenders of the country, and the section “Memory of the Soviet era on the map of Rybinsk” is dedicated to monuments created during the Soviet period.
Another part of the book introduces readers to memorable places associated with famous residents of Rybinsk and important peacetime events. The final section - "Museum under the open sky" - combines art objects and compositions installed in the XXI century.
The initiator of the collection was the local historian Natalia Lobanova, who worked in the field of culture for about 30 years and was part of the commission for the installation of monuments at the city administration of culture. In 2012, she systematized the accumulated information and prepared a publication for official use. Now the materials are available to a wide range of readers.
The editor of the book Anna Romanova noted that the format of the publication resembles an encyclopedic reference book and is one of the most complete collections of information about the memorial heritage of Rybinsk.
New memorials continue to appear in the city. So, on September 11, 2026, a bronze composition “Citizens of the city of Rybinsk” was opened on Cathedral Square. The monument consists of six figures and is dedicated to outstanding people who contributed to the history of the city.
