In the capital of the Vladimir region, work began on the elimination of an emergency object of cultural and historical heritage — a merchant's mansion on Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street, 84. The contracting organization DSK "Avtoban" began to demolish the building, which was recognized as dangerous in the period of the USSR.
The building became completely unusable after a fire in 2014, as a result of which the second floor burned down. During the extinguishing, the premises of the first level were flooded. At the time of the incident, 15 people lived in the house. The process of resettlement dragged on for decades: some of the apartments were privatized, some were in municipal ownership. Pogorelets were placed in a maneuvering fund.
Despite the recognition of the house as unsuitable for operation, the object remained for a long time without proper conservation, with the exception of the banner curtain on the facade. In 2018, partial collapse of structures was recorded, and in 2023, part of the facade wall fell.
In 2026, the municipality identified a contractor to carry out the dismantling. The cost of the contract is 2.7 million rubles. In order to ensure the safety of pedestrians, the adjacent area of the sidewalk has been fenced since the end of summer.
