In Simferopol, the families of dead soldiers were awarded awards on the Day of white cranes

In Simferopol on October 22, a commemorative action “Days of White Cranes” was held, dedicated to servicemen who died in the course of hostilities. In the youth center "Chekhov" fathers, mothers and wives of soldiers of the Fatherland were awarded insignia, KIA reports.

The action was organized by the Committee of families of soldiers of the Fatherland of the Republic of Crimea. The award became a central part of the meeting.

The date was chosen not by chance: October 22 in Russia and other countries celebrate White Cranes Day. This day is dedicated to the memory of those who died on the battlefields. It symbolizes respect for those who did not return from the war.

We will remind, the Day of white cranes appeared in 1986 at the initiative of the poet Rasul Gamzatov. The holiday symbolizes the bright memory of fallen soldiers and hope for peace time. In Simferopol, educational meetings are traditionally held to this date.

For example, on October 21, 2026, the staff of the library-branch No. 4 named after M. M. Kotsyubinsky held an hour-requiem “In memory of the crane cry” for gymnasium students. Students were told the history of the holiday and the song “Cranes” on Gamzatov’s poems.

The Committee of Families of the Warriors of the Fatherland of the Republic of Crimea, which organized the current action, is working to support the families of the participants of the SVO. In November 2025, the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov met with the head of the organization Olga Dorokhina and instructed the relevant departments to respond more quickly to the appeals of servicemen and their relatives.
