On the eve of the facade of the Tambov Regional Oncology Dispensary, a solemn opening ceremony of a memorial plaque dedicated to Tikhon Mitrofanovich Grozdov, Honored Doctor of the RSFSR, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of medicine in the region, took place.
Tikhon Mitrofanovich went from a military surgeon to the organizer of the oncological service of the Tambov region. During the Great Patriotic War, he headed the surgical department and was the chief surgeon of the evacuation hospital in the Tambov region, returning wounded soldiers to service. In the postwar period, Grozdov became the organizer and the first head of the oncology department of the Tambov Regional Hospital, and in 1946 he was appointed the chief doctor of the oncology clinic.
For outstanding services in the field of public health in 1952, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Doctor of the RSFSR. The work of the physician was also marked by high state awards - the Orders of Lenin and the Red Star.
The solemn event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Tambov City Duma Andrei Saprykin. The initiative to perpetuate memory was previously considered at the Council for the perpetuation of memory and supported by the decision of the deputies of the city Duma.
