In the Tambov region, a bill was developed to prohibit inclination to abortion

In the Tambov region developed a bill “On the prohibition of inclination to artificial abortion in the Tambov region”. The document was submitted by the Head of the region and considered at a meeting of the health protection committee chaired by Pavel Moiseev. First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Duma Galina Shemanayeva took part in the work of the committee.

The bill is aimed at protecting the rights of pregnant women, saving the population, reducing the number of abortions and increasing the birth rate. Deputy Head of the Tambov region - Minister of Health Marina Macedonian stressed that motherhood, childhood and family are under the protection of the state.

According to her, there are currently no legal mechanisms in federal law to protect a pregnant woman in a vulnerable condition from pressure to have an abortion. Pending the adoption of relevant federal laws to protect society from the promotion of abortion, the regional draft establishes a ban on inducement to abortion, which is expected to reduce their number.

The committee recommended that the Tambov Regional Duma consider the bill at a regular meeting and adopt it in the first reading.

In addition, amendments are made to Article 10 of the Law of the Tambov region “On the regulation of certain issues of health protection of the population of the Tambov region”. The document was developed by the Committee on Health Protection in order to improve and systematize the norms of regional legislation in the field of public health. The committee’s work plan for November was also approved.
