Tatarstan intends to increase to four lanes the section of the highway connecting Kazan, Buinsk and Ulyanovsk and lying in the gap between the federal roads M7 and M12. The start of design and survey work on overhaul is scheduled for 2027. The relevant information during a recent interview was voiced by the head of Volgo-Vyatskravtodor Ilnur Nurmukhametov, Tatar-inform reports.
According to the head of the department, such reconstruction will contribute to increasing the comfort of travel and rational distribution of traffic coming to the capital of the republic from the M12 highway.
The need to implement the initiative is dictated by the serious congestion of transport arteries at the exit from the city. At peak hours, the daily flow of cars here exceeds the mark of 70 thousand units, which brings these sites to the leaders in congestion on the territory of the subject. Specialists of the road department focus on the expansion of existing directions, as they take the brunt of the increasing flow of personal and transit transport.
Measures to increase capacity are taken systematically. So, by the end of 2026, the four-lane road will be Kazan - Orenburg on the interval from Kazan to the village of Smoldeyarovo in the Laishevsky district.
Also, the segment from the adjoining point of the toll highway Alekseevskoye - Almetyevsk to the Almetyevsk with further access to Bugulma needs to be expanded. In addition, the plans are to update the four-kilometer section at the entrance to Izhevsk.
In addition, a section of the Yoshkar-Ola - Zelenodolsk highway will be reconstructed (from the 95th to the 113th kilometers, near the Zelenodolsk bypass).
