In the Ulyanovsk region from convicts recover the costs of their search and detention

Employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ulyanovsk region achieved through the court reimbursement of costs incurred due to violations by convicts. We are talking about citizens who evaded forced labor or damaged equipment designed to monitor the execution of punishment.

In particular, some convicts were hiding from employees of the penitentiary system. To establish their whereabouts and subsequent detention, operational-search activities financed from the federal budget were required.

Violators were detained during 2025-2026. However, the costs associated with their search subsequently became the basis for the agency’s appeal to the court.

In addition, material damage was caused by convicts who were sentenced without imprisonment. They disabled special technical means used to monitor and monitor compliance with the established restrictions.

As a result, the regional FSIN demanded to compensate for the cost of restoring equipment and conducting search activities.

During the first nine months of 2026, magistrates of the Ulyanovsk region considered and satisfied 12 such claims. Collection of funds is carried out on the basis of the norms of civil and penal legislation.

The Ministry stressed that the work on compensation of damage to the federal budget continues. Execution of court decisions is under the control of the regional management of the FSIN.
