The fifth generation network appeared in several districts of Veliky Novgorod. The communication of the new standard was deployed on existing LTE frequencies in the 2100 MHz band.
According to the press service of MTS, 5G coverage covers the Victory-Sofia Square, the Ice Arena and the Youth Park, the Trade side and the territory near the 30-year-old October Park. Communication also worked in residential areas of the Western and Pskov districts, Kolmovo, in the area of the trading house "Rus" and the shopping center "Slavyanskaya fair".
The operator is gradually deploying 5G in places with high subscriber activity. To do this, the principle of technological neutrality is used, which allows you to use one frequency resource simultaneously for networks of the fourth and fifth generations.
Director of the operator in the Novgorod region Nikolai Betelev called the launch of the network an important technological step for the region.
Fifth generation networks are forming a new standard of digital infrastructure and creating the basis for the next level of digitalization – the development of the industrial Internet of Things, video analytics, automated systems, work with large amounts of data and new urban services. For Veliky Novgorod, this is especially important from the point of view of tourism: modern communication becomes part of the impression of the city, helps to develop digital routes, navigation, multimedia services and makes the stay of guests more comfortable.
In the future, the new network can give the region an additional impetus for the technological development of business and the urban environment.
