The Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. S. Arensky held an event in honor of the Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The lobby of the Philharmonic for the holiday turned into a real exhibition of achievements of the local agricultural industry. Guests were able to see what the farmers themselves are proud of: elegant homespun paths, carved wooden products, cozy handmade toys, paintings and even unusual crafts made of beeswax.
On behalf of Governor Alexander Dronov, the participants were congratulated by Deputy Head of the region Oleg Shakhov. According to good tradition, this holiday is celebrated at the finish line of the harvesting campaign.
The Deputy Governor expressed special pride that Novgorod region again confidently leads in the production of potatoes, vegetables and poultry meat. According to him, thanks to the care of farmers, there are always fresh and healthy products on the tables of residents of the region, which means that Novgorod residents make a significant contribution to the food security of the whole country.
Oleg Shakhov also noted that in order to fulfill the tasks set by the President, the region will have to expand sown areas, introduce modern technologies in dairy farming and further support both large enterprises and farmers. At the same time, he stressed that agriculture is not just an economy, but also a deep history, culture and traditions that peasant dynasties cherish.
The main heroes of the evening were the advanced production. More than sixty of the best workers in the industry received federal and regional awards from high-ranking guests.
The series of speeches was completed by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Vladimir Tatarenko. He called the agro-industrial complex a reliable foundation of the region’s economy and shared happy statistics. Despite the difficult conditions, Novgorod poultry and egg production show stable growth: in the first half of the year, the region ranked second in the North-West in terms of poultry production for slaughter, and also retained leadership in the district in growing seed potatoes.
The Minister thanked farmers and processors for their daily conscientious work, which brings such impressive results, and wished each of them good health and family well-being.
Earlier, we wrote that due to difficult weather conditions, employees of the Ministry of Agriculture had to leave their offices and help farmers remove carrots manually.
