In the Volgograd region, 27 people were diagnosed with West Nile fever
Rospotrebnadzor regional office warns that in the region there is a risk of infection.

In the current epidemic season, 27 cases of West Nile fever have been laboratory confirmed in the Volgograd region. The infection is transmitted to a person through mosquito bites - you can get infected during rest, fishing or staying in the country. The spread of the virus contributes to a warm climate, numerous reservoirs and migration of birds. The incubation period is from 2 to 14 days.
The disease is manifested by acute intoxication, pain in the muscles and joints, vomiting, diarrhea and rash. In severe cases, the infection affects the nervous system - meningitis or encephalitis can develop, up to death.
There is no special vaccine for West Nile fever, so the main protection is the prevention of bites. Sanitary doctors recommend using repellents, wearing closed clothes, installing mosquito nets on windows and closing containers with water in suburban areas.
