In the Volgograd region, the university summed up 10 years in the status of a flagship university
VolgSTU is the key beneficiary university of the project; the agreement on its implementation was signed by 5 leading universities in the region.

Ten years ago, VolgSTU became the first flagship university in the region. The results of this stage were discussed at an extended meeting of the Academic Council at the Institute of Architecture and Construction; among the participants was Deputy Governor Larissa Savina.
Over the years, the university has become a significant educational and scientific center. The head university now has about 14.2 thousand students, together with branches - more than 18 thousand. Admission indicators indicate the growing popularity of the university: applicants submit more applications, the average exam score of applicants increases.
The development of the university is in several directions. New programs combining architecture, construction and technical sciences have been opened, including “Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures”, “Fire Safety” and “Architecture”. Training becomes more practice-oriented: students combine study with work on production sites. For students, a unified educational environment has been formed - united trade union committee, student council, scientific societies, volunteer and construction teams work.
The scientific component is also strengthening: the volume of research and development work is growing, publication activity is increasing, interdisciplinary projects are developing. The infrastructure of the university has been updated: laboratories, auditorium and dormitories have been modernized. The university participates in the Priority 2030 program.
Further development is connected with the project of the world-class inter-university campus Volga. The work corresponds to the priorities set by the Governor Andrey Bocharov and is related to the Professionality project, which helps to train the personnel needed by the region.
