In Voronezh for the first time operated on a pregnant woman with a flotation clot
Now both the woman and the newborn are doing well, they were discharged home

In the perinatal center of the Voronezh Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1, doctors rescued a 25-year-old patient in late pregnancy. The woman found a flotation clot - it was located in a deep vein of the leg and spread towards the small pelvis. This condition is deadly: at any moment the clot could come off and clog the pulmonary artery, which would lead to instant death of both the mother and the fetus.
The woman had recently moved to Voronezh from a neighboring region and was in hospital on a planned prenatal hospitalization. During the examination, doctors identified a threat. Urgent intervention was required, but in late pregnancy, such operations are associated with high risk and are extremely rare. In this case, there was no alternative.
Surgeons decided to install a temporary cava filter in the inferior vena cava - a special device that passes blood, but delays large blood clots. The operation took about half an hour. All this time outside the door of the operating room was an obstetric team, ready in case of complications to immediately conduct an emergency caesarean section. It is noted that in the Voronezh region such intervention in a pregnant woman was performed for the first time.
After installing the filter, the patient was transferred to the intensive care ward. For more than a week, doctors around the clock monitored the condition of the woman and the development of the fetus. Pregnancy was saved to a safe period - a healthy boy weighing 4020 grams was born.
When the young mother's condition stabilized, the temporary filter was successfully removed. Now both the woman and the newborn are doing well, they were discharged home.
