In Zareny pensioner transferred to fraudsters 490 thousand

A resident of Zarechny born in 1947 became another victim of remote fraudsters. The story began with a phone call: an unknown man told a pensioner that she was entitled to compensation for previously purchased medications. The amount was impressive – 3.3 million rubles. The woman believed it.

A few days later, another “specialist” called her. She explained that in order to receive such a generous payment, a certain amount must first be paid. The pensioner, not suspecting fraud, transferred 490 thousand rubles to the specified account. Only later did she realize that she had become a victim of scams and went to the police.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to six years.
