Vasily Anokhin: We are updating the municipal infrastructure in the Smolensk region
Governor Vasily Anokhin reported on the renewal of municipal infrastructure in the Smolensk region, noting that the state of thermal and water supply networks directly affects the comfort and quality of water for thousands of residents of the region

Governor Vasily Anokhin announced the renewal of municipal infrastructure in the Smolensk region, noting that the comfort and quality of water for thousands of residents of the region directly depends on the state of thermal and water supply networks. In 2026, within the framework of the federal project “Modernization of communal infrastructure”, which is part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”, a number of programs to update housing and communal services facilities were implemented.
In Kardymov, a major overhaul of the external heat networks of the gas boiler house on Lenin Street was carried out. The need for work was caused by critical physical wear of pipes, which reached 90% and led to significant heat loss. During the upgrade, specialists replaced the old thermal insulation, prepared the pipeline by stripping and degreasing, and then mounted a new shell of galvanized metal on a plot of almost 2 kilometers.
In Ugra, water supply networks were reconstructed, within which more than 7 kilometers of new pipes were laid by horizontally directed drilling and 108 wells were equipped, which allowed to increase the total length of networks by 7.4 kilometers.
In Demidov, projects were implemented to build a water intake on Komsomolskaya Street and a duker across the Gobza River. At this facility, a water purification station was built, as well as water supply networks with a length of more than 240 meters and water disposal with a length of almost 470 meters. In addition, major repairs of water supply networks were completed in Rudna, during which more than 7 kilometers of water supply and 108 reinforced concrete wells with shut-off valves were replaced.
According to Anokhin, these works allow not only to eliminate the consequences of long-term operation of the systems, but also to lay the foundation for the further development of municipalities, providing more comfortable living conditions for Smolensk residents.
