On September 11, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the combined arms training ground in Baranovichi district of Brest region, where he got acquainted with the development and practical use of communication systems in the troops. About the reasons for the sudden checks of the combat readiness of the army in the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio” told political scientist Alexei Dzermant, writes sb.by.
Alexey Dzermant noted that the factor of surprise makes it possible to get an objective picture of the real state of the Armed Forces and the entire power unit of the republic. He also recalled the President’s concise thesis statement that if you want to prevent war, you need to prepare for it:
- On the one hand, Belarus emphasizes its aspiration for peace, preservation of stability, what was created during the previous years of peaceful life in the country. At the same time, we are well aware that the world, unfortunately, is cruel, especially today. There are predators who are just waiting to eat the resource again. They look at us, the East, as a storehouse of resources, labor and intellectual power. There is no need to be under any illusions and be naive. Only force can prevent war: Armed Forces, the power of diplomacy and politics. Belarus, in my opinion, successfully uses both. In order for the powder to remain dry, so that we understand how the Armed Forces meet modern requirements, we need these checks, the personal attention of the Commander-in-Chief.
Visiting the site in the Brest region, the President talked a lot about means of communication, said the guest of the program:
- We saw how important this is for the coordination and management of troops and the front. And most importantly, judging by the statements of our military and the President, we have learned to make modern means of communication on our own. The country has moved away from a critical dependence on foreign suppliers, which is extremely important: any software products or hardware packages purchased abroad can be remotely blocked by the supplier at any time. Thanks to the presence of a strong historical school of radio engineering, Belarusian specialists successfully solve this problem.
During the exercises, he continued, the prototypes are actually tested, after which the industry will begin their mass production to cover all the needs of the army.

Commenting on the need to update Directive No. 1 “On measures to strengthen public security and discipline”, Alexey Dzermant pointed to the growing foreign policy, economic and military risks:
- If there is a weakness somewhere, then some very important knot may fall. And everything is tied to a person, his understanding of responsibility, production, executive discipline. Because the time is such that you do not have to relax.
Alexey Dzermant also spoke about Belarus’ contacts with US representatives at the political and economic levels, noting that there is nothing reprehensible in the dialogue:
- All states, even those in conflict with the United States, interact with them in one way or another. Our task is to get relations out of the deadlock they entered earlier. We see the readiness of the US administration to move in this direction, we understand that they need certain political and economic bonuses. Indeed, constructive steps are being taken in the form of lifting sanctions and unfreezing financial opportunities. It's not easy, though. The first, albeit small, supplies of potash have begun, but there is a question of freezing Belarusian assets in American banks. It's worth talking about.
These talks should be considered as an element of the global dialogue between Russia and the United States on security issues and the settlement of the crisis around Ukraine. Belarus consistently defends its national interests in this system, while contributing to the achievement of the common tasks of the Union State, the key of which is the establishment of peace in the Ukrainian conflict.
The talk show “Budney” is released on weekdays in the morning on “Alpha Radio”. Each issue discusses the most relevant topics from the life of the country and the world. Political scientists, scientists, public figures and journalists of leading media participate in the discussions.
