Rosprirodnadzor issued a warning to the State Unitary Enterprise “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” because of a complaint about the possible discharge of untreated sewage into the Okkerville River. The reason was the appeal about water pollution in the area of Yesenin Park. This became known from the data of the Prosecutor General.
The complaint concerned the rainfall release of the DP-190, which is located on the territory between the Yesenin Park and Tovarishchesky Avenue. Vodokanal said that since September 1, there have been no emergency or volley discharges into the river through this pipe.
To check the specialists of the enterprise on September 21 went to the place. They examined the release, found no traces of substances prohibited for discharge, and the pipe itself was in good condition.
Despite this, Rosprirodnadzor reminded of strict rules: it is forbidden to dump waste into water bodies and pollute water with dangerous substances. To prevent this from happening in the future, Vodokanal was issued an official warning. This is a preventive measure: the company needs to strengthen control over its wastewater and prevent excess concentrations of pollutants.
St. Petersburg water canal has been operating since 1993. Since 2026, the company is headed by Vitaly Pirogov. According to Kontur.Focus, the company has 25 licenses and 9 branches in the city, and its assets are estimated at almost 449 billion rubles. At the same time, Vodokanal is now a defendant in 71 arbitration cases totaling 1.1 billion rubles.
