Military chemists and doctors worked out interaction within the framework of the special training of the CSTO Barrier in the Minsk region

The special CSTO Barrier exercise continues in Belarus. It takes place against the background of joint command and staff exercises of peacekeeping contingents “Indestructible Brotherhood”.

At the “Starodorozhsky” training ground, military chemists and doctors are working out joint actions to eliminate biological threats. According to legend, a source of dangerous infection was found in the area of responsibility. It needs to be localized, to help the victims. The calculations of reconnaissance chemical machines come into play. The first samples from the conditionally infected area are delivered to a modern field laboratory. Its modules are capable of detecting radioactive substances and causative agents of especially dangerous diseases as soon as possible.

Andrey Lakhadynov, officer of the CSTO special training and analysis group “Barrier”: We have a sorting platform, where patients, both civilian and military, arrive in ambulances. Here, the specialists of the joint formation conduct a primary examination and select analyzes for the PCR study. Within two to four hours, we can make a definitive diagnosis of the patient and determine if they are infected or not.

Alexander Malyukh, Head of the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus: We pay special attention to the interaction of the military healthcare system with the civilian healthcare system. This occurs both in the category and treatment of patients, and in conducting studies to identify certain pathogens of infection.

More than one and a half thousand servicemen from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. More than 300 units of special equipment and about 8 drones. The strategic goal of Barrier is not just to fix the threat – to work out the coordination of actions between the agencies of the partner countries.
