Interior Ministry officials explained what words can not be said in conversation with strangers on the phone.
In the capital’s chapter of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation called expressions that must be avoided in communication with unknowns.
As emphasized in the documents, words such as “confirm”, “yes” and “agree”, as well as personal information – surname, first name and patronymic – should not be voiced in a telephone conversation with an outsider, as he may be a fraud. Attackers are able to fake voice and even video recordings, so the conversation is best done as short as possible.
If a suspicious call or message is received, it is recommended to find out who sent it and clarify the details with additional questions.
In addition, to protect against scammers, the police advise not to keep in touch with numbers that are not in the phone book: do not pick up the phone and do not call back. Such numbers can also be checked through the browser to find out whether they belong to scammers.
The head office reminded that law enforcement officers, banks and other government agencies do not call or write through messengers. You should also not open unfamiliar links and enter your credentials there. If in doubt, you should change the passwords for all accounts and services.
